Care during Covid-19 Questions

While vaccination is no longer mandatory, we strongly encourage all residents, visitors and team members at Darcy House Care Home to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19, including receiving future boosters unless medically exempted. To minimise the risk of infection to others, we will continue to promote vaccination among our team members.

Following recent Government recommendations effective from 15th December 2022, care homes in England have the discretion to decide on mask-wearing based on risk assessments. Our care home has conducted such an assessment and decided to no longer require universal mask-wearing. Visitors may choose to wear masks and residents can request staff to wear them if preferred. Our staff will adapt to ensure residents’ comfort.

Please note that the policy on mask-wearing may be revised at any time by the Home Manager, our company, or in accordance with guidance from local or national healthcare authorities. COVID-19 regulations and guidance from Government and Healthcare Agencies may also be subject to change. For further details, click here or contact the Home Manager directly.

Our primary focus is ensuring the wellbeing of our residents by providing comprehensive health care and engaging activities that promote their mental, physical and emotional fitness. While masks are no longer mandatory in our care homes, our staff remains flexible and will continue to wear masks as per residents’ preferences. Vaccination efforts are ongoing as per government guidelines and we adhere to social distancing measures.

Please note that mask-wearing policies may change based on decisions by the Home Manager, our company or local and national health authorities. Regulations and guidance related to COVID-19 from government and healthcare agencies may also evolve. For more details, please refer to this link or contact the Home Manager directly.

Newly admitted residents to a care home who are transferring from an interim care facility or another care home will be exempted from self-isolation upon arrival if the following conditions are met:

1. The individual has been fully vaccinated, where possible.
2. The care home has considered the circumstances at the previous care facility or interim care facility before admission.
3. The individual undergoes an enhanced testing regimen, which includes a PCR test within 72 hours before admission, another PCR test on the day of admission (day 0), and a third PCR test 7 days after admission.
4. The individual has not had known contact with a person who tested positive for COVID-19.

Finance Questions

In England, care home fees are determined based on an individual’s care requirements and financial circumstances.

Local authorities assess care needs to determine the appropriate level of care and type of care home. They also conduct a financial assessment, considering the person’s income, savings and assets to decide if they need to contribute towards their care costs.

Those with assets and income below a certain threshold may qualify for financial assistance from the local authority to cover care home fees.

Individuals eligible for NHS Continuing Healthcare receive full funding for their care from the NHS. Eligibility isn’t tied to a specific diagnosis but hinges on overall care needs and the level of support required to meet them.

For further details, please contact our team.

Upon the resident’s passing, all charges under the Care Agreement will cease immediately. Housing and lodging expenses will be covered for up to ten days following the death, or until the residence undergoes thorough inspection and cleaning.
