Care Week and Care Home Open Week Celebrations

At Yarnley Care Home, we recently joined care homes across the country in marking both Glad to Care Week and Care Home Open Week. These are two important opportunities to highlight the exceptional work of our care staff and celebrate the close-knit community we’re so proud to be part of.

Care Week gave us the chance to pause and show our appreciation for the incredible dedication and compassion shown by our care team every single day. It was a week filled with smiles, laughter and a well-deserved thank you to the staff who give so much of themselves to support our residents and their families.

One of the highlights of the week was a surprise visit from an ice cream trolley, which made its way around the home offering a cool treat to both residents and staff. It was the perfect way to embrace the warmer weather with everyone enjoying a moment of light-hearted fun together in the garden.

We also prepared special appreciation gift bags for our team. These thoughtful little bundles included useful bits like pens, keyrings, hand cream, lip balm, a few sweet treats and a refreshing can of drink. It was a small gesture to say a big thank you, reminding every member of staff just how valued they are.

The activities gave our staff a moment to relax and reflect on the difference they make, not just to our residents, but to their families as well. The atmosphere throughout the week was uplifting, with residents sharing in the celebrations and expressing their appreciation for the kindness and support they received each day. It was lovely to see so many residents enjoying the sunshine, sitting with staff in the garden, and sharing in the fun.

We were also proud to announce our Employee of the Month for May: Lika Hekmati. Lika has gone above and beyond in her role and is a shining example of the dedication we’re so fortunate to have at Yarnley.

At its heart, Care Week reminded us that behind every routine task lies a moment of care, connection, and compassion. It brought us closer together and reinforced the strong sense of family that we create at Yarnley House.
