Intergenerational Fun at Yarnley House
At Yarnley House, we were thrilled to welcome the local group Bright Sparks Creative Learning for a special afternoon of intergenerational learning, which proved to be an uplifting and memorable experience for everyone involved. Residents and children spent time getting to know each other, sharing stories, and working on simple creative activities together, sparking plenty of smiles and laughter throughout the day.
The aim of this event was to bring generations together in a meaningful way. Intergenerational learning is well known to have far-reaching benefits, providing children with the chance to connect with older generations and learn from their wisdom and experiences. For our residents, these sessions offer an invaluable opportunity to socialise, engage in something new, and enjoy the energy and joy that young people bring to the home.
We’re delighted to announce that this first session was such a success that it will now become a regular feature at Yarnley House. The afternoon ended on a high with a relaxing snack time in our cosy Bistro, where residents and children gathered to enjoy freshly baked banana loaf, fruit, and a cup of tea or juice. The Bistro was alive with chatter, laughter, and a sense of connection—exactly what Fridays at Yarnley House should be all about!
These visits not only create wonderful memories but also strengthen the sense of community within our home. They bring vibrancy, friendship, and a little bit of magic to the everyday lives of our residents. We’re already looking forward to the next visit and can’t wait to see these relationships continue to blossom over time.
At Yarnley House, we believe in creating a warm and inclusive environment where moments of joy and connection are at the heart of everything we do. Thank you to Bright Sparks Creative Learning for helping us make this happen. We’re so excited to see what the next session brings!
