Residents Celebrate Nature with Wildlife-Themed Activity

This month, our residents embraced their love of the great outdoors with a heart-warming wildlife-themed activity centred around making bird feeders. The creative workshop saw residents come together to craft their very own feeders and fill them with homemade birdseed cakes which was a fun, hands-on activity and brought smiles, laughter, and a wonderful sense of achievement to everyone involved.

The idea for our crafts began when several residents expressed a keen interest in the garden and shared their hopes of attracting more wildlife to our outdoor spaces. With this in mind, our team set out to organise a meaningful activity that would combine creativity, collaboration, and a touch of nature. By making their own feeders, residents not only took part in an enjoyable and therapeutic activity but also contributed to enhancing the garden for all to enjoy.

Since the feeders have been placed around the garden, the results have been simply delightful. The residents have been thrilled to see a variety of wild birds visiting the feeders, with sightings of sparrows, robins, and even the occasional blue tit. The joy of watching these feathered visitors has sparked conversation and camaraderie among the residents, as they’ve shared their observations and reflected on fond memories of birdwatching from years gone by.

Our team also organised a bird-themed quiz, which allowed residents to test their knowledge and learn more about the birds visiting the garden. This was not only educational but also a great way to encourage connection and accomplishment. Many residents told us about how rewarding it felt to see their hard work in creating the feeders pay off as they watched the birds enjoying the food they had prepared.

As part of our all-inclusive activities programme, we offer residents the opportunity to continue doing the things they love most and work hard to ensure there is something for everybody to enjoy. The feedback of our residents is important to us and we will always improve our services following this.

Our birdfeeder crafting has been a wonderful reminder of the simple joys that can come from spending time outdoors and celebrating the world around us, and we’re excited to plan more events like this in the future.
