Respite Care in Ringwood

At Yarnley House, we offer trusted and compassionate respite care in Ringwood for older adults who need support in a warm and welcoming setting. Whether it’s to recover after an illness or hospital stay, or to give a family carer time to rest, our respite stays provide comfort and professional care every step of the way.

Set in the heart of the New Forest, our Ringwood care home is a luxurious, purpose-built environment with experienced staff on hand 24 hours a day. We welcome guests for both planned and emergency stays, offering flexible care that’s shaped around the individual’s needs. Families can feel confident knowing their loved one is safe, well cared for, and surrounded by people who treat them with genuine kindness and respect 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Short-Term Support at Our Luxury Care Home in Ringwood

Receiving respite care at Yarnley House can be ideal for a variety of reasons. Some residents stay with us following an operation or a fall, where they may need help with medication, mobility, or rebuilding confidence. Others join us for a few weeks while their usual carer takes a break or attends to other responsibilities. In every case, our approach is the same by providing tailored support, personal attention and a home-like setting that feels calm and supportive.

Our experienced carers and qualified nurses work closely with each resident and their family to create a personalised care plan before they move in. This ensures that every aspect of support is delivered in a way that suits each individual.

We understand that making the transition can feel like a big step for everybody involved. That’s why we focus on making each resident feel welcome from the very beginning, offering a warm introduction, support with settling in and thoughtful communication throughout their stay.

Activities Available at Your Pace

Just because your stay at our Ringwood care home is short doesn’t mean it should feel temporary or impersonal. During their time with us, respite guests are invited to join in with daily life at Yarnley House at their own pace and in their own way.

While some enjoy gentle activities such as music, crafts, armchair exercises or a walk around the garden, others prefer to take things slowly, enjoying a book, a newspaper or having a quiet chat with staff.

We believe that providing care in Ringwood is about much more than just physical recovery. It’s about offering people space to feel like themselves again, while being supported by people who genuinely care.

Getting Out and About During Your Stay

Yarnley House is surrounded by the peaceful charm of the New Forest and the lively character of Ringwood town. Whether residents go out with family or on a supported outing with our team, many local places offer gentle enjoyment and a break from the routine.

Liberty’s Owl, Raptor & Reptile Centre is a 2-minute drive from us at Yarnley House and has a variety of beautiful animals for our residents to watch and interact with. Pet therapy has huge benefits for the well-being of older adults, so this is something we regularly incorporate into our activities programme.

For those who enjoy a connection to nature, a walk through Linford Bottom provides a peaceful woodland setting with level paths and benches for resting. The sound of the stream and the shade of the trees make it a calming spot, particularly in spring and summer.

Blashford Lakes Nature Reserve is another great option for birdwatching or simply enjoying a change of scenery. With flat access and bird hides, it provides a sense of peaceful discovery that our residents really enjoy.

In nearby Ringwood town centre, the Furlong Shopping Centre offers a quiet and accessible place to browse shops or sit outside for a cup of tea. It’s an enjoyable visit for residents who prefer retail therapy.

Many of our residents have an interest in, so we regularly visit the Ringwood Meeting House & History Centre. As well as permanent exhibitions, there are always new and interesting ones to have a look at.

All of these places offer the opportunity for a light connection with the outside world, even during a short stay. We work with families to support these moments wherever possible, ensuring safety and comfort are always prioritised.
