Palliative care at our care home in the New Forest is designed to support residents living with a life-limiting illness and helps to ease discomfort and promote dignity at every stage of their journey. Our experienced and dedicated team of nurses provide person-centred support in a calm and welcoming environment, with care shaped around each resident’s needs and routines.

What is Palliative Care?

Palliative care is specialised support for people living with a terminal illness and focuses on combining comfort and symptom management to improve quality of life. It can provide pain relief, emotional reassurance and day-to-day support, while also respecting the wishes and choices of the resident and their family.

This type of care is not only for the final stages of somebody’s journey. It can begin much earlier, once a life-limiting condition starts to affect everyday well-being and ensures residents and their loved ones can focus on making cherished memories and continuing the things they love, while we take care of the rest.

Palliative Care at Our New Forest Care Home

At Yarnley House Care Home, our palliative care service is delivered with a focus on dignity, comfort and tailored support. We take the time to understand what matters most to each of our residents and implement this into daily life. Whether they wish to spend some 1-1 time in our sensory room, have a pamper in the hair and nail salon, enjoy a homebaked snack in our café with a loved one or watch their favourite film in our cinema room, everything is right at their fingertips and included in our all-inclusive package. Our experienced team are here 24 hours a day to support residents with their wishes in a way that feels calm and reassuring.

Our services are also extended to the family members of our residents. We facilitate meaningful visits for loved ones through unrestricted visitations and we are on hand to support with any questions or worries they may be having.
